As part of the Government’s visit to the Coastal-Karst region, Mark Boris Andrijanič, the minister responsible for digital transformation, visited Dinit Card Services in Izola. He was welcomed by the entire executive team, headed by managing directors Primož Patru and Jani Gorup.
In the beginning, Patru introduced him to the history of the company, which in this part of Europe is one of the leaders in the field of innovative solutions and services for cards and payments processing. He exposed excellent cooperation with the University of Primorska and expressed the wish that, with the help of the ministry, Slovenia outline a long-term strategy in the field of education and employment of ICT staff. The latter is already severely lacking, which is a great challenge especially for technology companies in smaller regions, which also include the Coastal-Karst region. Dinit’s executive team also pointed out some other challenges that belong to the field of digitalization within the industry in which the company operates (cards and payments). According to Patru, one of these is also the legal basis, which, following the example of many European countries, would impose an obligation on Slovenian companies to accept digital payments. According to Primož Patru, that would not only be a big benefit for consumers in Slovenia, where the payment card is already the most popular payment method. It also represents a great advantage for public finances and the fight against the grey economy.
Minister Andrijanič thanked the management of Dinit for the invitation, visited the business premises, and also linked himself to the challenges presented to him by the managing director Primož Patru. In the light of the planned expansion of the company’s business, he said that he “welcomes the plans to hire new ICT experts in Dinit Card Services and expansion of the business into new markets with Slovenian know-how”.
